The well shown here was drilled using our complete drilling system. The total depth is 190 feet!

The unusual thing about this well is that it is an Artesian well that is fed by a water source that is higher than the surface so it will flow freely until it is capped off and regulated. Most wells require a submerged pump to bring water to the surface.

The basic components of a finished well are quite simple. All of these parts can usually be purchased locally. We supply the equipment that is needed to get your well to this stage.

Drilling a well is a simple process.

In addition to our complete package you will need a supply of approx 100 gal of water. You will also need 100lbs bentonite. Bentonite is very inexpensive. It should cost you about $10.00 per 50# bag.

Once your site is chosen, you will need to dig two settling ponds. The dimensions need to be approx 2' X 4' X 2' deep. See layout diagram.

Once your site is ready, layout your equipment as shown or in a way that suits your location. As you drill, water is jetted down the drill hole from the Mud Pump through the Water Swivel. The water then returns up through the hole, along with drill shavings. Pay close attention to the drilling rate and and shaving composition. This will let you know what your are encountering ie. clay, sand rock. The first pond is for settling the heavy stuff. The second pond is where you will draw your cleaner water. The water and bentonite is recirculated during the drilling process.

Note: You may need to line the ponds with tarps depending on the porosity of the soil.

Drilling is very straight forward. To start, you attach the pilot bit to the end of a section of drill stem, then to the power head. Make sure the engine is at full throttle, engage the flow of water/bentonite and slowly lower the power head. After the first section bottoms out bring the engine back to idle and stop the water flow. Detach the length of drill stem and raise the Power Head with the winch then attach another length of drill stem and repeat the process until you hit water! You will know that you have hit water when the temperature of the water leaving the hole changes or the consistency changes. Or in the case of the above well.....water gushes out of the hole!!! You will then replace the pilot bit with a reamer bit and open the hole.

The finishing process depends on the depth of the well and the requirements for your area.
